Why should you use pregnancy oil?
We are often asked whether anti–stretch mark oil or pregnancy oil is really necessary. In our opinion, the answer is yes.
But what are stretch marks?
Stretch marks are narrow, streak-like skin changes. In these areas, the deeper layers of the skin have ‘torn’. Stretch marks are very common and not harmful, but many people find them cosmetically undesirable.
What do they look like?
Stretch marks appear as parallel red lines on the skin. Over time, the redness fades and they gradually turn beige or skin-coloured. This fading process can take several years.
How do stretch marks develop?
Stretch marks occur when the connective tissue in the deeper layers of the skin is pulled apart due to rapid growth of the body part, forcing the skin to stretch quickly. If the skin’s elasticity is insufficient, small tears can develop.
During pregnancy, stretch marks commonly appear on the abdomen, breasts, buttocks and legs.
The likelihood of developing stretch marks also depends on genetics, age (the younger the skin, the higher the risk), and certain medications.
Is there a treatment for stretch marks?
Once stretch marks have formed, there is little to no effective treatment to make them disappear completely. However, it is possible to soothe and care for the skin by applying and massaging it regularly. Pregnancy oil or balm is very suitable for this.
Ultimately, the best approach is prevention.
Pregnancy is one of the main causes of stretch marks, which is why these oils and balms are often called pregnancy oils. But of course, they can be used at any time. To reduce the likelihood of stretch marks, it is important to allow the skin to grow gradually (which can be difficult in the later stages of pregnancy) and to keep the skin healthy and supple through good nutrition and proper care.
Petit&Jolie Anti-Stretch Mark Oil and Pregnancy Balm are specially developed to care for stretched skin. The combination of different oils (sunflower and almond) helps to keep the skin supple and resilient. In addition to the oils, the formulas contain rosemary, schisandra and frankincense extracts. These extracts give the oil its unique character, offering extra stimulation to the skin and providing anti-inflammatory benefits.

So, does an anti-stretch mark oil actually help?
Yes.
Will the oil prevent stretch marks completely?
No, but it can reduce the likelihood. The development of stretch marks depends on various factors. What is important is that the skin is well cared for through good nutrition, sufficient hydration, and regular massage.
And let’s be honest — it’s also a very good excuse to treat yourself to a lovely pamper moment now and then. 😉
