Natural Nourishing Baby Oil

There are many different baby oils available that soften and care for your baby’s delicate skin. But is there really a difference between them all?

What are the differences between baby oils?

In general, there are two main types of baby oil:

Bath oil – This type of oil is added to bath water. For the best results and optimal skin care, the oil should partially dissolve in the water. That’s why it is also referred to as bath oil. For more information, see Petit&Jolie Bath Oil.

Skin or massage oil – This oil is applied directly to the skin. The terms skin oil and massage oil are often used interchangeably, as there is hardly any difference between them. Petit&Jolie offers a massage oil, which could just as easily be called a skin oil.

What’s the difference between baby oil, lotion, and cream?

A baby oil is generally richer and oilier than a lotion or a cream. A lotion is a mixture of water and oil, while a baby oil typically consists of 100% oil. (Note: many brands use Paraffinum Liquidum – a mineral oil that is not natural.)

Because a lotion contains water, it usually absorbs more quickly into the skin. A baby oil remains on the skin a little longer, making it ideal for giving your baby a gentle massage.

What is the best skin care when choosing a baby oil?

Both bath oil and skin oil offer valuable care for your baby’s delicate skin. The most important thing to consider when choosing a baby oil is the composition of its ingredients.

Many conventional baby oils (both bath and skin oils) contain Paraffinum Liquidum. This is a mineral oil product similar to candle wax. It forms a layer on the skin, which makes it feel soft temporarily. However, once this layer wears off, the skin itself is not truly nourished or improved. It acts more as a barrier than as a treatment.

If you really want to care for your baby’s skin, choose an oil made from 100% natural ingredients. Natural oils — such as almond oil or jojoba oil — penetrate deeper into the skin, nourish it intensively, and help support the skin’s natural regeneration process.

At Petit&Jolie, we believe in pure, natural care without unnecessary additives. That’s why we use only plant-based ingredients that are gentle on your baby’s skin — and kind to nature.

Our Baby Oils

Petit&Jolie Bath Oil
This bath oil has a rich, honey-like texture and forms a soft, milky emulsion when mixed with water. It dissolves well and nourishes the skin during bathing, leaving it beautifully soft. A big plus: your baby won’t become slippery after the bath but will feel clean and supple.

Petit&Jolie Massage Oil (or Skin Oil)
This rich oil contains organically grown jojoba oil and sweet almond oil. With a hint of vanilla extract, it has a subtle, natural scent. The smooth texture makes it perfect for a relaxing baby massage — it glides easily over the skin, deeply nourishes, and supports the skin’s natural balance.

What does natural baby skincare actually mean?

Natural baby skincare means that products are made from naturally derived ingredients, such as plant-based oils, flower and herbal extracts, and butters from sources like coconut or shea nuts. These ingredients nourish and protect delicate baby skin in a gentle and safe way.

One major benefit of natural ingredients is that they are more easily broken down by nature compared to synthetically developed substances, such as polymers (plastics). This makes natural skincare products not only kind to the skin but also to the environment.

At Petit&Jolie, we consciously choose pure, plant-based ingredients derived directly from nature. This ensures skincare that supports the skin — rather than burdening it.
