Do you know what I really enjoy? Those delicious chubby baby legs. With rolls and folds. The older we get, the less happy we are with those chubby legs, but on a cute baby, I just love them. It’s just a well-nourished baby, right?
A consequent of those chubby legs is that you have to pay attention with bathing, cleaning and changing diapers. Because of those ‘rolls’ some parts of the skin can stay wet, which causes skin irritation. Good cleansing and drying off is essential! If you notice the skin is a bit irritated, it’s wise to pat it dry (not rub) and if possible not covering it, so that the skin can dry by air. Years ago, talcum powder was commonly used. We advise against this, because the talcum can easily get into your baby’s lungs. Another solution is to use some diaper cream. A key ingredient of our diaper cream is zinc oxide, which dries the skin naturally. The beeswax and the woolwax nourish the skin and make it soft and feel nourished in a natural way.
The diaper cream can be used in more ways than only by the changing diapers. Next to diaper rash and other skin irritation, you can even use it on chicken pox. Again, the zinc oxide dries the skin which causes the skin to heal quicker. Zinc oxide also has sun-protective qualities. But because we don’t know the SPF since it’s never been tested, we don’t recommend using the diaper cream as a sunscreen. It is good to know though, just in case.
But the main function of the diaper cream is really preventing or remedying the diaper rash. Using a little bit of diaper cream every day can significantly reduce the risk of diaper rash. Did you know that diaper rash also can be caused by poor diet, poor immune systems or teething? If the diaper rash is intense, then keep the diaper off for a while and let everything just dry by air. In the meantime, you can enjoy those cute chubby legs again 😉
