A nappy rash cream with zinc oxide is in fact a zinc ointment. However, it\u2019s important to note that not every nappy rash cream contains zinc oxide. Always check the ingredients list.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1334\" data-end=\"1432\">The main difference between various ointments and creams lies in the percentage of zinc oxide:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1610\">\n<li data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1513\">\n<p data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1513\">5\u201310% zinc oxide \u2192 ideal for preventing nappy rash and mild irritation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1513\">10 &#8211; 20% zinc oxide -&gt; for mild irritation, mild redness and small wounds.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1514\" data-end=\"1610\">\n<p data-start=\"1516\" data-end=\"1610\">20% or more zinc oxide \u2192 suitable when there is already redness or irritation of the skin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1612\" data-end=\"1894\">A higher concentration doesn\u2019t automatically mean a better product \u2014 what matters most is how it&#8217;s used and the overall balance of the formula. Also note: the higher the zinc oxide content, the thicker and whiter the cream often is, which can make spreading it a bit more difficult.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1901\" data-end=\"1944\">Is zinc ointment suitable for all ages?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1946\" data-end=\"2188\">That depends on the formulation. Skincare products intended for babies from birth must comply with stricter cosmetic regulations than products for older children or adults. Therefore: a product that is safe from birth can be used by everyone.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2195\" data-end=\"2246\">Does a milder formulation reduce effectiveness?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2248\" data-end=\"2513\">Definitely not. The effectiveness of a zinc ointment is determined by the <strong data-start=\"2322\" data-end=\"2350\">percentage of zinc oxide<\/strong> and the quality of the other ingredients. The cream contains for 10% zinc oxide. But we chose the name diaper cream\u00a0to clearly indicate what the product is for, rather than just what\u2019s in it. It\u2019s also perfectly usable by older people with sensitive skin in intimate areas.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3808\" data-end=\"3883\">Through this blog, we want to show that the cream can be used in many ways.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3890\" data-end=\"3957\">Zinc oxide in sunscreen \u2014 not to be confused with zinc ointment<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3959\" data-end=\"4134\">By contrast, we wouldn\u2019t call <strong data-start=\"3989\" data-end=\"4024\">Petit&amp;Jolie\u2019s mineral sunscreen<\/strong> a zinc ointment. While both products contain zinc oxide, the purpose of the ingredient is entirely different.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4136\" data-end=\"4385\">In our sunscreen, zinc oxide is used as a <strong data-start=\"4178\" data-end=\"4204\">natural mineral filter<\/strong> to protect the skin from both <strong data-start=\"4235\" data-end=\"4260\">UVA and UVB radiation<\/strong>.
